GTA 6 Will Be GOTY Eligible in 2026: It Came Down to a Single Day

Here is today's massive news. With its launch scheduled for November 19, 2026, GTA 6 barely squeezed past the strict eligibility cutoff set by Geoff Keighley. As a result, Rockstar Games' flagship title will officially run for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2026. It literally came down to 24 hours. The Game Awards jury traditionally closes its submission window right in mid-November. A single day later and Rockstar's heavyweight would have been pushed back to the 2027 ceremony. Safe to say Keighley and his team were holding their breath. Get ready for a total landslide. It is hard to picture how any other game could stand against the Vice City juggernaut at the end of 2026. Barring an unthinkable twist, Rockstar is set to sweep the board.
