Privacy policy
VICE.FR is an unofficial fan site. We collect the bare minimum needed to run the comments, the chat, the poll and the contact form. No advertising cookies, no selling of data.
Who is responsible?
The data controller is the publisher of VICE.FR. For any question about your data, write to us through the contact form.
What we collect, why and for how long
Contact form โ your name or nickname, your email (optional) and your message. They are only used to read your request and reply to you (legal basis: your request / our legitimate interest in replying). Only the site administrator can read them. They are automatically deleted after 12 months, or sooner if you ask.
Chat โ your nickname, your message and the time it was sent. Messages are public (visible to every visitor) and automatically deleted after 30 days. Don't post anything personal.
Comments โ your nickname, your text, the date and the article. They are public and stay online as long as the site displays them; you can ask for their removal at any time.
Poll โ only the option you voted for, with no identifier. Your browser keeps a small marker so you can't vote twice.
Visit and article view counters โ plain totals, with no personal data. A session marker prevents counting the same visit twice.
Audience measurement โ Vercel Web Analytics, cookie-free: page views, country, device type and referring site, as aggregated statistics.
Technical logs โ like any website, our hosting providers process your IP address to deliver pages and protect the service against abuse.
What is stored in your browser
No advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. The site only keeps, in your browser's local storage: your language choice, your chat nickname, whether you already voted in the poll and, for the current session, whether your visit and the articles you read were already counted. These are needed for the site to work, so they don't require consent. You can clear them at any time from your browser settings.
Who processes this data
Supabase โ the site's database (contact messages, chat, comments, poll, counters). Vercel โ website hosting and audience measurement. Google Fonts โ the typefaces: your browser downloads them from Google's servers, which therefore receive your IP address. Unsplash and YouTube โ illustration images and video thumbnails, loaded from their servers (same goes for your IP address).
Amazon (affiliate) and Ko-fi (donations) links send nothing until you click them; once on those sites, their own policies apply.
Some of these providers are based outside the European Union (notably in the United States). Such transfers must be covered by the safeguards required by the GDPR, for example the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can request access to your data, its correction or deletion, restrict or object to its processing, and ask for its portability. Write to us through the contact form, stating what it is about (nickname used, approximate date of the message or comment).
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL: cnil.fr.
