A 60 FPS mode is planned… but maybe not at launch
A 60-frames-per-second mode is reportedly in the plans for GTA 6 on console. The caveat, and it matters, is that it might not be there on day one.
That would fit the studio's history. Rockstar ships a game that holds up in its preferred mode first, then tunes. Red Dead Redemption 2 ran at 30 FPS on the consoles of its era, and the performance mode of later versions came afterwards.
What it changes in practice: at 30 FPS the game will be gorgeous and perfectly playable — that's the standard Rockstar calibrates its worlds around. At 60, driving and gunfights would feel sharper. It's not a whim, but it's not a condition for enjoying the game either.
And on PC, where framerate is theoretically unlocked: you'd first need a PC version to exist. See our piece on that.
Bottom line: nothing is official. Until Rockstar shows the graphics modes, treat 60 FPS as a possible bonus, not a promise.
