GTA 6: How Xbox Players Could Play Hours Early with Midnight Release

The news just dropped and it is already driving hype through the roof. According to IGN, GTA 6 will launch at local midnight across regions instead of a single global unlock time. That means the legendary New Zealand trick is officially back. If you own an Xbox Series console, you already know the strategy. By changing your region to New Zealand in the system menu, you can jump into Vice City up to twelve hours ahead of local launch time in Europe or America. PlayStation 5 players won't be so lucky. Sony ties storefront access directly to the home region of your PSN account. Tweaking your console timezone won't unlock the store early unless you bother setting up a fresh overseas profile. Rockstar has yet to post the official global unlock map, but local midnight releases are standard procedure for major launches. Get your console ready and prepare for a very long night.
